    (1)
How proudly we boast of the heroes of Ardagh
Who swore to defend us or die by our side
The war cry still ringing, the bright day is dawning,
There is hope from High Heaven Tis the turn of the tide.
    (2)
We were told that the days of the usurper were ove
That we’d never more witness the crowbar brigade
That landlords and agents were banished for ever,
Brave Ardagh done well in the fight that was made
    (3)

And some have returned to the home of their childhood
The land of their birth where their forefathers sleep.
