  1. Hidden Treasure
Somewhere around the old Deel Castle there is some silver supposed to be hidden. The person, Mary Foy, same address as myself, that told me the story, did not know exactly where the teasure was hidden, but my father told me it is in a field on the brow of the River Deal. The place it is hidden in is called Slieve na Mian.
It was placed there by Lord Tyrawley, in the time of the (Ribbon) Rebellion of '98.
Lord Tyrawley was afraid that his riches and silver would be taken from him.
There were attempts made to get it, but it couldnt be found. It is not know who made the attempts.
It was never found. Sometime later it was supposed that it was stolen after hiding it.
The burried treasure consists of silver knives and forks and the family plate. The plate was made off silver and it weighed about six cwt weight
