- Lough Neagh is the biggest lake in the British Isles. It is of a square shape. One day a woman went to this lake (well) for a can of water. She was in a great hurry and so she forgot to put the cover on the well.
The well over-flowed its brinks and kept flowing on till it covered all the villages and towns round about it. It is said that of a clear day you could see the towers shining below in the lake. That is how Lough Neagh got its name.- Collector
