  1. The Potato crop is the principal crop that is grown in this country every year. The farmers depend most on the potato crop to make a living. The potato was first introduced into Ireland by Sir Walter Raleigh many years ago.
    In Spring the farmers plough the land and harrow it. Then they open the drills and spread manure in between the drills. Then they cut the potatoes into small pieces with an eye in each piece.
