    was taken up, it was as good as coal. Some of the smiths used to have farms. When he did anything for the people, such as, fix ploughs or harrows, or shoe horses, they used not give him any money as they do now.
    If he was living in the country, they would give him a day ploughing or cutting turf. If he was living in the town, they used to give him a bag of potatoes, or a cart of turf. He fixes ploughs, scuffles, shoe horses, and cart-wheels. The tools he uses are, hammer, sledge
