  1. Long ago there were a lot of forges in the country. Most of them used to be situated at the country cross roads. The forges used to be made of stone and morter, but some of them were made of wood. The black-smith used to make their own coal.
    They used to put down a big fire of turf, and let it burn, until it was burning beightly. Then they used to quench it with water, and bury it under the g round for a few days. When it
