    surrounding districts. Men were then engaged with carts to bury the dead, and old man told about fifty years ago that he had often eight coffins on his cart. A lot of the dead were buried in fields about Ballina outside the burying ground. The cholera never touched the town of Crossmolina and Crossmolina is up to this day known as a holy land.
