    Quignashee means the place of the fairies. Long ago there was a fairy who lived there and she was the queen of the fairies around this district. Every night she used to give the other fairies an entertainment of music. This continued on for a long time, until one night during the entertainment she got sick and she did not live long after. When she was dying she divided her land into five parts and she gave it to the five principle fairies, they are:-
    Quignalegan, Quignamangar, Quignashee, Quignalecka and Quignabar.
