  1. League is situated about one mile north of Ballina. There is a graveyard there. League got it's name from "leac" which means a stone or flag. In this stone there was a large hole in which a child could fit. When a child would get sick the father would bring it it the stone and lay it in it and ask Beal to cure it. Beal was one of the chief pagan Gods of Ireland at that time.
    When St. Patrick came to Ireland he converted the people and the custom was then forgotten. It is said that when some people went to see the
