  1. A pedlar who once used to travel around this district was murdered in Co. Sligo and his money taken. The people who killed left his head in the Hob and his body in a ditch, then they cleared away from the place. One night the sextant of the near-by church was coming home, he might a man on the road, he looked weirdly at the sextant. The sextant took the key of the church, drew three circles with it on the road and said "If you are good spirit who will go into the middle circle", and immediately the man jumped into it.
He then told the sextant to go to this house and there he would find his head in the hob and his body in the ditch. The head and body were found and buried as directed.
