  1. About 2 years ago. A man named James Fallon, Near Ross, Killala. Was digging a hill in Cortoon, Killala, looking for sand. But he got a great surprise when he went down a foot or so he found skeletons.
    R.I.P.
    A woman named Mrs Moran age ninty-six years Cortoon, Killala. Said there was a battle fought on that hill at the time of Cromwell. There was about a thousand men killed. They were left here without coffins or even clay thrown over them.
