- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)of Carrantrasna, Lacken R.I.P. He used to thrash for several people, such as the Knoxes of Palmerstown, and of Rathfran and all the big farmers around as there was no machinery.
He used to have 14 to 15 cwts. of oats thrashed after him in the evening. He used to have three cwts. of oats thrashed when he got his breakfast, which would be of porridge and milk. In some houses he'd get tea after it. he used to continue thrashing for the six days of the week.
Michael Murphy was a powerful strong build of a man.
One of the best diggers that was in this district was Michael Nealon from Lacken R.I.P. He used to go around digging potatoes for the people in the district.
He was a powerful strong man also and used to dig a half an acre in(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
