Cromwell's soldiers. They meant to cross Rath-Fran river and to go to the mountains but the tide was in and they had to return. As they were crossing this field they met some of Cromwells soldiers and were shot. Some one tooth them and buried them in this quarry. Others say that it was during the Famine they died of starvation and were buried.
