  1. There are three forges in our parish. There is one in Chapel Lane, Killala, one in Foghill, Carrowmore, Lacken, Ballina, and one in Caratrasna, Carrowmore, Lacken.
    The forge that is in Killala belongs to Mr. Hughes. He makes gates, tongs, scuffles, horse shoes and he mends any broken farm implements as ploughs, harrows, scuffles and iron hooks.
    Mr. Hughes' father was a smith. He was a better smith than his son at the present time. He had a forge at Allulafarry, Killala, Co Mayo.
    Mr. T. Collins owns the forge in Foghill, Carrowmore, Lacken, Ballina. He makes some
