  1. My father's great grandfather named William Lynn R.S.P was out fishing and he saw a very large ship coming towards him.
    It was the French and they wanted to land in Kilcummin but their vessel was too large. So they lowered their vessel and came in to William Lynn's boat and he brought the crew ashore including General Humbert.
    The tracks of their camps can be seen in the vicinity yet. A hundred years later his grand-daughter named Miss Maud Lyonne came to see the place where her grandfather landed. She came in August 1898.
