  1. In Ireland long ago it was the custom to spill blood every St. martin's Night in honour of St. Martin. It happened that there was a man in Kilcummin long ago who had nothing to kill but a cow so he killed her. Then he had no milk for his wife and family.
    To his surprise on the next day came a beautiful white cow in out of the sea on a flag at the shore. After that he had a good supply of milk. It is thought that the cow came from Tir Na -n-Óg. Ever since the flag where the cow came ashore is called "Léach Poll na mBó Maoile".
    One day when the man was milking the cow she stirred her foot. He let a curse on her
