  1. Crom Dub was the landlord of a large stretch of land. He lived a couple of miles from the town of Ballycastle. He let some of this out to tenants and made them pay huge prices for it. In this way he lived to be a very rich man. He lived cheaply on fish derived from the sea. One day St. Patrick was passing round by this place. He was aware of the high prices the people had to pay for the land. So he tried to persuade Crom Dub to reduce the rents as the people could not afford it.
