- The Firbolgs and the Tuatha de Dannans fought at Rathroe. And three chieftains were buried a couple of miles to the west. One was named Brasso. A grave with a skeleton was discovered on top of a high sand pit in Ballyduane about 6 yrs ago. Another grave was discovered on 25th July '38 about 8 ft from the 1st grave. It is made of cut stone covered with flags. It contains a skeleton 4' 6" in length. It has a double row of teeth, which are all molars, in front.
The skull, back bone, ribs and legs are in a perfect state of preservation. They will be brought to Galway Museum.
Perhaps those were the chieftains.Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
