  1. There was a man living with his mother long ago. He was a great gambler. He was one night going home from card playing. He met a man, with a table, candle and deck of cards, who asked him would he have a game. He said he would. The man said he'd play him for himself. He refused, but said he'd play him for any money. The devil took out a gold watch and left it against his £. The boy won the game and got the watch. As he was dealing the cards, one card fell on the ground.
