McDonnell buried under the tree in that grave-yard. He and three of his followers were all who were left after a fierce battle with another clan named Bourkes. This battle was fought at the thurthog in Carn Maygoynagh . McDonnell and his three followers ran all the way from Carn to Cillin. McDonnell had a piosoned arrow in his leg and when he reached Cillin he fell dead. His three followers, with great grief buried him under the tree. They went to Heskin Fort, the remains of which is still to be seen in Thomas Hoban's land in Ratheskin.
