- (continued from previous page)the corns of stones seven times and while they are doing that they say a certain number of Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glories and before they leave they wash their feet in the stream which flows away from the well.
Nobody uses its water for household work. The reason why it was called after St Patrick was that when St Patrick was passing by the well he felt very thirsty and he drank out of that well, and then he blessed it.
In much the same way the stations are performed in Killcummin.
On every Garland Sunday people come to Killcummin and perform stations at the blessed well.
It is near the sea and the ruins of an old church near it.
Everybody who performs a station takes a drink of water out of the well and wash their feet in the stream which flows away from the well.
Long ago people used to come from all sides to do stations in Killcummin. Some used come on horseback on the evening(continues on next page)
