  1. At the time of the building of Lacken pier there were men from Dublin building the pier. They lodged in a house called Goldricks. One day there were races in Killala, so the men decided to go to them. Five of them that were in it. They set for Killala in a small boat. The girl of the house in which they lodged went with them. They arrived in Killala safely, but when they were coming home the boar over turned and they were all drowned.
