  1. People marry usually after Christmas until Ash-Wednesday. The month of May is unlucky to marry. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are also unlucky. "Matches" are made in the district. Money and stock are given as a fortune. The man getting married, sends a friend of his to the house of the girl. If the girl is satisfied, the man to whom she is getting married appoints the day they are to be married. It is about one hundred and fifty years since marriages were celebrated in the homes of people.
    They had a feast lasting a week. It was called "banfheis"
