  1. The people of old had no means of grinding their corn except by a small hand mill called a quern. This small mill was made of two round flat stones for grinding. In the underneath stone there was an iron axle fixed, on which the upper stone revolved. In the upper stone there was a hole for the corn to be dropped in and
