  1. The local landlord of Hillerdee-[?] Ballyknock, and Ballycastle was Colonel Arthur Gore.
    He was succeeded by his brother "sir Charles", and lived in Beleek manor Ballina. The Gore family were very good landlords to their tenants. They never carried out evictions. They usually suplied their tenants with seed potatoes, and seed oats, and the tenants were highly pleased with their landlord.
    Tithes were collected by the Protestant Minister but the people resisted and fierce battles were fought, between the tith collectors, and the people, and finally the tith gathers were wiped out, and the Minister had to live on the
