  1. Saint Brigid is our local patron Saint. She had a church in Killbride many years ago, but it is in ruins now. There is a church and a new school built in Ballycastle in her name.
    There is a well in Ballinglen called "St Brigid's" well. Some of the female children are called Brigid. The first of February is St Brigid's day It is not a holiday of Obligation now.
    St Brigid was born in the year 450, and died in the year 525. She is buried in Downpatrick in the county Down.
