As O Donohoe made his escape
To the woods he did repair
Where tyrants dared not show their face
Either by night or day.
And each week on the papers
There was something published new
Concerning that Bold Fenian boy
Called Bold Jack Donohoe

On the twenty fifth of April
In eighteen seventy eight
This sad and sorrowful occurrance
In Porturlin did take place.
The crew being five in number
Went out at the dawn of day
They were drowned in a few hours after
All along Porturlin bay.

When the sad news came to land
Their parents and dear friends
Their loving brothers and sisters
And neighbours did attend
