  1. In Dublin town I was brought up
    That city of great fame
    My parents reared me tenderly
And many one knows that same
For being a bold United Boy
I was forced to cross the main
For seven long years to New South Wales
    To wear the convict's chains.
    II
I was not longer than six months
    Upon the Australian shore
When I turned out a bold Fenian Boy
    As I often did before
There was Mac Namara from yonder hills
    And Captain Mackie too
    These were the fine associates
    Of Bold Jack Donohoe.
    III
    ODonohoe went walking
    One summer afternoon
    Little it was his notion
That his death would come so soon
Till a sergeant of the horse police
    Discharged his carabine
    And loudly cried to ODonohoe
    To fight or to resign.
