  1. Most old people are very observant as regards weather and many other things. They have many signs by which they know the kind of weather that is to come in the near future.
    They know there will be rain in the near future when there are rays from the sun or a circle around the moon or when the stars are dim or when the clouds are very dark and sail across the sky very quickly. There is an old proverb that "a rainbow in the morning is the sheperd's warning and a rainbow in the night is the sheperd's
    delight."
    When the wind blows from the west there is cold rain near hand. When it blows from the south there is soft rain near hand, when it blows from the east there is hard, frosty weather near and when it blows from the north there is snow forthcoming.
    When the swallows fly close to the ground there will be rain very soon or when the seagulls fly inland. When the cat turns his back to the fire there is cold rough weather forthcoming; or when the dog eats grass. The rocks
