  1. This prayer was written by Loreto Mortimer, Lecanvey. She was taught at home, most of the children know the same prayer. It is said before going to sleep.
As I lie down on my night side
I pray to God to be my guide,
and if I die before I wake.
I pray to God, my soul to take.
There are four corners on my bed
There are four angels on them spread
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
God bless the bed that I lie on.
When starting to work the people generally say "Let us begin in God's name sometimes. In sinm Oé is said.
When going on a journey the people in the house say to the traveller "God speed you and bring you home safely".
