  1. There are traditional tales told about many places in the Westport district and one of these places is Doon Castle.
    Doon Castle is said to be built hundreds of years ago but it is not known who built it or for what reason.
    It was aid that the kings of Connaught resided there for a while and fought many battles round it.
    Sheeaune Hill is another place. It is a very high hill with a mound on top and it is said that the fairies have their dances and parties on the rath there.
    Drummindoo has taken it’s [sic] name from a graveyard in which babies are buried. “Drum an Dubh”
