  1. There was a boat coming from Westport to Boffin Island. The day became very rough and the crew were all drowned. The boat was thrown in on Carrowniskey strand. Some people from Carrowniskey saw the tragedy from the shore.
    The crew - two men and a woman - were lost and their bodies were washed ashore. When the boat came in it was full of bran, flour, meal, tobacco, sugar and tea.
