    water about fifty feet in width, and he landed on an island which has since been known as "Maxwell's Island," and the channel across which he leaped has been called "Maxwell's Leap".
    This Maxwell was an ancestor of the Maxwell, who wrote "The Wild Sports of the West".
    I got this explanation of Maxwell's Leap from the late Mr. John Ball, Ballyhip, Louisburgh.
