    He took the island farm
    and well the traitor knew
    that food for Mayo's people
    once on its bosom grew.
    And all around were waiting
    the honest sons of toil
    who lived, where now are grazing
    the bullocks of O'Boyle

    He took the island farm,
    And when the leaguers came,
    And soon the people of Mayo
    In a passion was aflame
