  1. The orangemen and the Catholics in Belfast live in peace with each other and on friendly terms all the year except around the "Twelfth". An orangeman and a catholic lived side by side in West Belfast, worked in the same mill and in the evenings sat over their drinks in the same bar.
    One twelfth they went together to take their drinks as usual. Before the orangeman began he lifted his glass and said quietly: "To h. with the Pope: God save the Kind". The catholic then lifted his own glass and said: "To h. with the King, God save the Pope". They went on
