  1. Caiscín Coirce
There was a poor woman living in Spiddal long ago and she had a large family of children to rear as her husband was drowned while out fishing on the bay.
She had great trouble paying the rent after her husband's death and every year she was getting poorer. At last she had nothing to sell but a few stone of oats to meet the rent.
She had sold her ass and cart and cow. At last she decide to prepare some of the oats and bring it to the market in Galway. She knew she would not get much money for the little bag of oats she could carry on her shoulders.
She rose early one morning and started to walk to the town.
