Long ago some children were playing in a field one day and they came accross a a white thing in the shae of a hen's egg. They were very much surprised and they brought it home with them and they sent it to the king who was in the neighbouring townland. The king said that he would send for the wise men until they would find out what it was. After spending some hours looking at it, they could not find out what it was. Merchants who passed that way wanted to buy it, but the king refused to do so.
He put it on his window outside and one day a hen came along and began to pick it. After eating enough of it, she went away, and when the king saw it on the fowolling day he discovered it was a grain of corn.
