    “Well”, he began, “I will make a threefold condition with you. Fulfil it and you shall be liberated from your spells. But if you cannot fulfil it I shall be-head you, before the sun sets in the West tonight.”
    “Hard enough” said the Prince; “but Our Saviour suffered more than all that”.
    “Come along with me”, said the King, and so he led him to a large stable about one hundred feet long, and in it there was about twelve feet high of dung. It had not been cleaned for about twenty years before that. “You must clean out this stable” he said “and find for me the golden crown my great-grandfather lost here two thousand years ago”.
    “Well”, said the Prince, “I will try at any rate”, taking the dung fork in his hand to make a start.
