    “I doubt”, said the servant, “you won't have it any better until you leave this land”; and the servant bade him good night and left the room.
    The Prince sat down surprised at what he had seen and thinking to himself: “If I cannot have any better food or drink than this, I cannot live here at all”. However he resolved to make the best of it.
    When the midnight bell rang in the Castle tower, to his surprise he heard a low knock at his chamber door. He arose and opened the door and his faithful friend, the Princess, walked in.
    “Good night Prince”, she said, “I am sure you are miserable here alone.”
    “Very miserable indeed”, said the Prince.
    “Well”, she said, “do not be dis-heartened. All will be well yet provided you are faithful to your promises.”
    “Remember, Princess” he said, “a true hero from Erin never broke
