    in the townland of Doontas. An old woman whom name was Brigid Tansey lived alone in that house.
    The house is knocked down now.
    The people had no light but the fire, long ago. The windows were very small. The people had to pay a tax on the windows and they were afraid to made them any bigger. After a while the people made candles from rushes but there was a very ugly smell coming from them and they had to get rid of them. They dipped the rushes in oil and then they lighted them. After the rush candles the paraffin lamp was invented and they had better light then and there was no ugly smell on it either.
    The people build the house now of concrete and sometimes of stone and mortar. A lot of
