    "Goirm a Cgailín, Is bhéarfaidh inc Spréidh dhuit.
    The above refers to Daniel O'Connell. He was in a hotel in London. The landlady found out who he was and determined to poison him, she hated him so much. The servant girl who was Irish knew of her intention.
    At breakfast next morning the servant girl asked O'Connell if he understood Irish and he said "Yes". She then told him in Irish that there was as much poison in his cup as would kill hundreds. The landlady was listening to the
