On this page

A man named Michael Bartley was awakened one night by a smell of burning. On rising he found his hay shed, two carts, a side car, a harrow and two stacks of oats were burning.

He called for help and the neighbours all gathered in to quench the fire. Despite their help everything on the premises were burned except the house and barns.
It was not known how the fire started, but it was thought that the hay heated and caught fire. Later Mr. Bartley
