  1. In olden times the house in Ireland were made of sticks and woven rod plastered with mud. The fire then was in the middle of the floor, and there was a hole in the roof to let out the smoke.
    Later the houses were made of wood and still later of mortar and stones. These houses contained one or two rooms and there was a bed in the kitchen where the old people slept. It was near the fire and was called a
