  1. I live in the village of Ballygommon. It is situated in the parish of Keelogues and in the barony of Sallen.
    There are fourteen houses in the village now. Eight of them are slated and the rest are thatched.
    There were up to twenty houses in the village long ago, but the inhabitants have died out, and only the ruins of the houses are to be seen now.
    Ballygommon pronounced in Irish is called Baile Chamán. It is said that long ago when hurling was a popular pastime of the Irish, a great
