Tom Byrne and Michael Stanton were working...

Tom Byrne and Micheal Stanton were working in Meelick at John Shannon. One night as they were coming home Tom noticed that Michael had very little to say. When he came to his own gate all he said was good-night and ran into the house. On seing this Tom became afraid. When he went a little farther he met his dog. The dog started to scream and bark around him as if he wanted Tom to jump to his own side of the road. Tom did not go until he came to Mac Nultys field. He then heard footsteps on the road and on looking round he saw a coffin and a crowd of people walking towards Bohola.
Next morning Tom heard Hugh Keirys son of Bohola was dead.
