    Patrick W. Nally, who lived in Balla years ago, was a great jumper. Several men in Balla and the surrounding districts tried to beat him but failed. He could jump a height of seven feet, it was an old saying "If a pole was held at the height he jumped, he could walk under it." On Sundays and holidays crowds used to go to Balla, to see him jump.
