  1. Within the week of the "dragging home" there arrived at the house of the young couple the brides mother having with her in the car a great chest. The chest was a great (?) about six feet long and about three feet six broad and deep standing on four legs each about six inches (?) upper part of it formed the lid. the chest which was painted red was (?) and had been made by the local carpenter.
    The chest and its contents..(?) a present to the bride from her mother. It was full of bed and table linen and bed clothes. the linen was probably made from flax grown on their own farm, retted, carded, spun and woven into linen locally. Similarly with beds (?)and quilts. They were made from
