  1. Long ago many marriages took place during shrove because it was considered lucky for a marriage to take place during that period.
Old people believe, even to the present day, that the month of May is an unlucky month for a marriage to take place. An old proverb says,
'If you are married in May, you will soon be making clay?' To get married on a Tuesday is also considered unlucky.Others class the days in this way --
    Monday for wealth,
    Tuesday for health,
Wednesday for the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
And Saturday no day at all.
