  1. (continued from previous page)
A long time passed, but no word ame from the oldest or the second brother. The youngest brother suspected that all was not right with them, and determined to set out in quest of them.
So one fine day he took with him his horse, his hawk and his hound, and set forth to find what had befallen them.
He travelled the very same way that his brother had gone previously, and like them arrived at the cabin in the wood at nightfall. Seeing the door open he went in to seek shelter for the night. He was much surprised to find no one in the cabin but the white stones. However he brought in his animals, and then getting firewood soon had a warm bright fire kindled to warm himself. Then happening to look towards the door he saw the same withered old hag.
"Ride-ride-ran tá mé fuar." says she shivering.
"Come in old hag and warm yourself," says he, not at all liking the look of the old hag.
"I'm afraid of your horse and your hawk and your hound," says she, "but here's a rib of my hair and tie them." The youngest brother too the hair, but pretending to tie his animals with it threw it into the fire where it began crackling
