An Neoinín or The Daisy is common everywhere and though of little use in pastures where it is often abundant is a welcome harbinger of spring and generally flowers earlier than other plants
“Tá sé chomh buidhe le neoinín” , is a common phrase.Raithneach or fern occurs in old pasture land and though as a botanical specimen it has some interest otherwise it is of little use except when dried a bedding for farm animals. On the other hand it causes little trouble in tillage land and seldom becomes a nuisance anywhere.Buachaill an tighe is a cactus like plant which used to be planted on the slope of the gable. This plant is not to be found wild in this part of the country and is propagated by getting a portion from an established plant.
It is considered an antidote against the wiles of the fairies.- Collector
